According to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's (IDEM) rule, IAC 318-1-1-1
(the complete 14-page rule can be seen here [PDF file]), dwellings which contained meth labs must be:
Reported to the local health department,
Inspected by a qualified inspector, including taking laboratory samples,
Cleaned and decontaminated by a qualified inspector with the state,
Pass clearance testing.
All of this must be done before the home can be reoccupied or sold.
The home DOES NOT need to be demolished, but considerably more must be done than to simply call a house cleaning service.
FINANCING IS NOW AVAILABLE for meth lab cleanup through the Environmental Credit Assistance Program (ECAP)
